The Division of Public and Organizational Health / Center of Salutogenesis (Prof. Georg Bauer) at the
Institute of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Prevention, University of Zurich (UZH), Switzerland focuses on
promoting positive health development in a rapidly changing world of work and organizations, including healthcare
settings. We are currently seeking:

2 PhD Students in Work and Health (100%)

Start date: August 1st, 2025 (or upon agreement)

Location: Zurich, Switzerland

As full-time PhD students, you will participate in a 40-month transdisciplinary project on Human Centered Co-
Creation of Care, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation. The project investigates how healthcare
professionals and patients can jointly shape care processes that enable a more active patient role while also
enhancing the quality of working life for healthcare staff. Your doctoral research will focus on the perspective of
healthcare employees - particularly nurses - examining how co-creation influences their work experience, well-
being, and professional identity. You will work with diverse research groups and four partner hospitals across
Switzerland to understand what fosters or hinders meaningful collaboration in healthcare.

In close collaboration with our research team, you will develop research instruments, collect and analyze data, write
scientific publications, and present your findings at conferences. You will be part of a dedicated research team
focusing on work and health as well as individual- and system-level innovations in healthcare.

You offer:

• University Master's degree in social sciences, preferably in (work & organizational) psychology,
including a master’s thesis of 30 ECTS / 900 research hours

• Strong interest and previous knowledge in the field of work and health

• Experience in planning, conducting, analyzing, and writing up empirical research

• Very good knowledge of quantitative research methods and software (SPSS, R)

• Fluent German language skills (essential for field research)

• Very good knowledge of English

• Enthusiasm for applied, real-world research topics

• Commitment, independence, flexibility, passion for research, ability to work in a team
